Over the last week or so every night when Iam on the net I have to reset my router-Netgear DG834G sometimes every 20-30 mins to be able to get on the net. Now ive had this problem before and after a few days its fine but this has been nearly a week now and iam still having the problem.

I was connected via wireless, and now ive tried a wired connection and that still has the same problem.

Any of you guys know why this might be happening?

Running vista X64 SP1

I'm with TalkTalk and have no problem using my dynamode R-ASDL-C4W-EG router

Im hardwire on pc and wireless on laptop with no problems, could well be your router.

Where are you living?

I think it might be a DNS issue, thats whats windos is saying. Anything you can suggest?

Sorry for the size, I get this message and another different one but saying ive a problem with DNS both from windows. Anyone know how I might be able to sort this?

i'm with talktalk too, i've been with them for 3 months now and after initial problems with stability my line is now rock solid with low ping on game servers.
Its probably the profile on your line needs changing, i tried many profiles untill i found the one most suitable for my line.
You need to goto talktalk forums and post your problems and you should be helped quickly.

you have to post your line stats and you will find help quite quickly.

as for profiles, it's all to do with your line stats which profile suites your line best for stability and speed.

check the above link, best place to get it sorted.

Thanks for that link to that site, helpfull bunch on there.

The net seems more stable now which is good, after updating the firmware on my router. But iam having real trouble downloading via rapidshare and the likes, the downloads start off then just hang, any ideas?

Try changing your MTU to 1400 in 'WAN Setup', also change your DNS servers on the 'Basic Settings' page to OpenDNS or some others.

OpenDNS:

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

The downloads stopping sounds like a little packet loss, so adjusting the MTU should help.
