Possibe GFX Card problem.

I purchased a GTX260-216 today. I have noticed when I launch anything 3d and intensive then I get a sort of high pitched whine coming from my case. At first I thought it maybe my PSU (a Corsair HX520), but when I run rthdribl the whine is instant from program start, so I assume that its the GFX card.

Any Help?

Its most likely coil or capacitor squeal. It's not a defect, just happens when certain components are under stress.

I doubt you can RMA it, some people try to live with it although you can fix the problem by covering the parts causing the noise with lacquer or nail polish i think.

Same here with my GTX 260 216. Known problem. I just turn the volume up and ignore it.

As said, unlikely you will get an RMA on it as they might have to send you 100 cards before you got one which didn't do it.

well if its not a defect thats fine. Was getting into GTR Evo and I noticed it, turned it off to avoid damage. Thanks very much people!
