Hey, I live away from home. Ive got a pc,....now back at home I have a flat which is empty, no one lives there but I have a high internet conneccion (this is because I used to live there, I got a job and left but my mother wants to keep the internet and tv incase I go back, or when fam come and visit otherwise the house is empty my parents live elsewhere)

Now my question is What is the best way of using that internet conneccion? I mean how could I set it up so that I could have a PC or NAS or something there that I could connect to via web and download stuff, etc?¿

I havent a clue, but Im looking for an affordable solution, just hate having the conneccion and not taking advantage, please give me some advice on the options available, hardware, price, etc and dificulty of setting it up.

Cheers, please try and be detailed as Im no expert.
thanks.

Wouldn't that mean you would have to leave the new machine on 24 hours per day every day? Seems to be a waste of electricity to be honest.

Why hasn't the house been put up for sale if it's not being used anymore

If you intend to Remotely connect (Remote Desktop) to a pc that you might put in the vacant flat, then check you can do it first. Some ISP's block the connections, and even opening the ports in your router will not solve it.

Just a thought...

True....but I could get my cousin or girlfriend to go up and turn it off from time to time.
Anyways Im just curious to see what the options would be...could I get some sort of NAS or router, connect that to my modem, and setup some sort of torrent program that I could acces via web?
The access that setup from my current location and download files from there to my pc?

Or would I have to buy another pc and set that up...?¿

Really if you could just run me through the options?¿
cheers.
