Can anyone help me, my 2 month old Connect3D 1950pro 256MB is getting artifacts and failures in ATI tool at around 70degrees, is this considered bad enough to RMA? Really don't want it sent back and a big waste of postage

Cheers!

Is it fair to RMA then? I don't really know what grounds RMA counts for under graphics cards.

It's been doing this since I got it, but I wasnt playing graphically demanding games. But now that I've started playing CS:S again it's just crashing like crazy

If you havent modified the graphics card in any way, but you are getting bad artifacts during games then yes RMA it.

Well they aren't all over the screen, but they're there, and also the crashing is the worse thing.

I enabled overdrive by mistake a while ago (still left it unclocked) I'm praying this doesnt void my warrenty? Anyone know?

Bump, do you think I should RMA?

What's OCUKs policy on RMAs, I'd prefer not to get another back from what people are saying about reliability (was hoping for a 8800gts - obviously I'd pay the excess :p )

Well what are you overclocking by to get the artifacts, I cant remember exactly but it was either the 7.1's or 7.2's that when I went over 1Mhz in either clock it would artifact like hell, but if I went to the previous version I could clock like hell!

Tbh I think the HIS ones are the dodgy lot

So it seems Connect3D cards have the plague... as my Connect3D X1950XT card died aswell recently, the RMA process has been horrible though. Everytime I call up Overclockers to see what the progress is, I get the usual 'uhh I'm not sure'. Whats even worse is, everytime I call up Connect3D, they tell me how this has happened so many times before and unfortunately I'm just going to have to 'wait it out'.

I've been waiting 2 weeks now, I can't even use my PC because I didn't think I'd need a spare PCI-EX card for when my £170 one died. I'm really hoping Overclockers just give me a refund or store credit or something because I really can't keep waiting... all my work is locked away on this PC.

OK, really stuck with what to do now, need honest opinions.

At around 70degrees it gets artifacts, WoW / CSS become unplayable.
My CPU is at around 40degrees, so I cant see a heat flow problem.

Would you, in my situation RMA, I have no idea whether 70degrees is classed as overheating or what have you. :(

Well, at the risk of being facetious - did you spend £100+ on a graphics card to have it artifact and crash? No? Then RMA it. Send a webnote requesting an RMA number. If it's under 28 days old then ask for a new one, if not, then tell them in writing you expect it repaired or replaced within a further 28 days. Those are your legal rights.

70 degrees isnt to hot at all for underload, thats perfectly fine, my x1800 XT used to hit about 74 underload, those are normal temperatures for these cards underload, 80's is normal, so your 70 is perfectly fine as said, if its artifacting at 70 its borked so RMA it, its definately faulty as no way should it be artifacting at only 70 degrees, OcUK will replace it if its under the 28 days still. :)

Well, that's my fault entirely. I noticed it under 28days but didn't think I had sufficient reason to RMA. Guess I'll have to anyway, but at least I've learnt from it heh.

Cheers for the advice, now just got to work out what to do in the meantime, got no spare PCIE card. May have to use old Barton 2800+ with a 5700 158mb :p

You could be waiting 8+ weeks before receiving your card back...

You have to send it back - if it's artifacting it's damaged. By law they have to resolve the issue to your satisfaction inside 28 days.

I'm in Surrey, that thread linked is the very reason I'm so hesitant to RMA it. I do NOT want to send it, wait 28+days and recieve it back to find a "no fault" and/ a hefty charge.

Well cheers for the advice guys, guess I'll post it soon. Is it worth buying a cheap PCIE card whilst I wait do you think? (as in like £20-30)
