hi guys,

was just wondering is it possible to use 2 sound cards at once like the onboard for seperate speakers and say a creative x-fi at the same time, would there be any driver conflicts or anything?

cheers

yeah it shouldn't be a problem really. most applications have options to choose which sound card you want to use. my voip phone installs as a usb soundcard and it doesnt conflict with my x-mystique at all, and my onboard never did either thinking about it:)

Sounds about right, indivual applications can choose which sound to use Ive found. When I put in a sound card I had to go round changing all the indivual settings from one to the other, till then it was still outputting on the old onboard sound even though some sounds were coming out the other card

Because of 1 game crashing on my Audigy 4 Pro, I leave the onboard (Realtek HD) enabled on my ASUS A8R32-MVP. Works a treat, so long as you remember to switch devices first.

I leave the headphones plugged into the Realtek permanently too.

No idea how for instace 2 Creatives would work together, but different brands would normally be OK.

I used to run my onboard sound as well as my Audigy 2 zs. Used the Audigy for speakers and my onboard sound for headphones when I was mixing with Virtual DJ :p Was a lot of fun....but there were some conflicts which meant I had to do disable my onboard sound almost whenever I wanted to play games.
