I was watching Lost last night through my amp and speakers and then an awful sound came from the right front speaker.

It was the sound a radio makes when it is not tuned to a station. I tried everything and i couldnt get rid of it, its definatly not the connections cause i checked them all. You can still slightly here the film or whatever you are watching but the sound is awful.

I know it is the amp because i tried another speaker and the same thing happens. But here is the strange thing. When i turn the amp to a non digital source like cd it works fine???

My sky+ and dvd are the only things affected and they are both hooked up via optical?

Could it be a problem with these connections?

Can bring it back as its out of warranty details below

Marantz sr5200
6.1
Eltax front Left and right floorstanders (Bi-wired)
Eltax centre
Eltax Bi-polar surrounds

Any ideas

I phoned up a qualified Marantz service centre (luckily 5 mins away - only 1 in Northern Ireland) they said they could have a look at it but if it was less than £55 to fix they would go ahead and do it if it was more than that they would give me a phone.

Just got my amp back there now all fixed and working great.

I know some of you wanted to know what the problem was so here it is:

The engineer replacedthe integrated circuit to D.S.P board

Parts fitted: HC107250R

it only cost £39.03 to fix but with VAT it was £45.86 a great deal if you ask me, hope this helps you guys get yours fixed
