Possible battery and hard drive error?

Hi everyone,

I have a couple of really odd errors showing up on my laptop.

Firstly the experience index is claiming to have found new hardware even though I have not added anything. When I run it, it is producing some kind of hard drive error and fails (below).

I am using a Western Digital Scorpio Black hard drive and I have run the WD Data Lifeguard diagnostic (both quick and extended) and the drive has passed fine.

Secondly there is a battery error showing up that I have never seen before. Despite the claim that there is a problem it still seems to be working fine.

Both errors came up at the same time. I have run complete scans using Malwarebytes and Avast! and nothing has come up.

Although I initially thought that this was a hardware problem (hence posting it in the hardware section) I am beginning to think maybe there is a problem with the OS.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Merry Christmas and a hardware-failure-free New Year :D

Another sign of a run down battery is the clock won't keep time,Bios prob's, but for the sake of a couple of bob won't hurt to replace your battery. You can try Googling > The Win Experience Index for your system could not be computed > see what Google brings up.

so you think it actually is a battery problem?

I was imagining, because it happened suddenly and in conjunction with other odd things, that there would be some kind of other explanation.

The battery certainly is old. I have had the laptop for nearly 4 years and the battery has never been changed.

So I got rid of the battery error by running the battery down to dry and then charging it up again. Seems to have solved whatever issue there was.

Probably still need a new one though. The CMD battery diagnosis said my last full charge was only 32% of the original designed amount.

Merry Christmas everyone. :D
