Possible faulty speaker on iPhone - Help

Would someone please be able to test something on their iphone for me. On the bottom of the iPhone where the speaker is, if you cover up the left hand side of the speaker do you get any sound out of the right hand side? The reason i ask is if I cover the left side It mutes the sound, when I cover the right side it makes no difference and I can hear it fine still, I hope this makes sense, I'm worried I have a faulty speaker.

That's because there is only one speaker, which is in the left.

On the right is the microphone.

It had me worried on mine too until read on another forum about it having just one speaker

Don't worry mate, your not the first, my friend did that when I cracked his. Rang me at midnight in a panic because his new toy's sounds were only coming out of one side.

When I hold the iPhone horizontally I always accidentally cover up the speaker with my finger and its surprising how much you can mute it. Fortunately its not often I play things on loudspeaker.

Exactly, that's when I noticed it, was watching something on bbci player when It happened.
