Having tried nearly every single solution out there to stop the frequent crashing outside of Vault 101 (any where between 1 - 20 minutes) without any success, i suggest the 175.19 nvidia drivers.
Has stopped 75% of the crashes for me, it might work for you and is worth a try. Make sure to use driver cleaner etc to get rid of the old drivers. The game still crashes but much less frequently.

Does anyone know how to get improve the frame rate in some of the outdoor areas? I get a good 60fps indoors but outdoors i sometimes get only 5-20 fps!
I have the most recent patches, and have tried nearly every suggestion on various forums!
Thanks.

Are you listening to the radio ?

The game had been rock solid since v1.0 for me, and I've finished it twice. Except for the conflicting ffdshow when the radio ingame is on which caused crashes.

What is your spec ? I get 30 fps easily outdoors with everything maxed except shadows which are on medium, 8xCSAA and transparency multisampling, 1920x1080.

Took ffdshow off completely for this reason and radio is off too just in case.
Have an asus p5k / quad q6600 / 4gig ram / 8800GT.
Have turned the gfx details down but still have the same problem, but some outdoor areas run at 60fps everything maxed out (except CSAA) @ 1680x1050.
Quitting the game and reloading in the same area makes the frame rate back up to 60fps again but if travel around the problem reoccurs! Very weird!
