So, i bought and received my R9 290 sapphire card a week ago, and i had no problems in the first couple of days, but whilst playing BF4 my game crashed and the monitor black-screened.
Since then i had tried many fixes and they were unsuccessful, but unit i tried this one.

Possible Fix: Uninstall 14.x driver and install the 13.12 driver! I know you may have heard this fix before, but during the days i was searching for solutions, i dismissed this fix - thinking it wouldn't work and it was too "simple" for it to work. I just want to reiterate this solution, as i have been on many forums where people are still having the B(lack)SOD and also as watch_dogs is coming out :) i want people to sort out their GFX card for the release.

Although the 13.12 drivers don't have mantle (i had released some FPS decrease in BF4 multiplayer) its a good fix until AMD finally put out another driver to sort the issue (probably not). So catalyst 14.5 is supposed to come out on the 27th-28th.

I have a 7970 that black screens and tried the fix you mentioned but it didn't work :( Only way I can get it to work is to down clock it back to reference settings from the factory overclock.

My black screen issues (with a sapphire 290 tri-x) seem to get fixed by just re-seating the card in the pci-e slot, I can even get the black screen issue to come back by re-seating and testing a few times, a bit random but possible to reproduce.

It could be nothing to do with the black screen issues others are having though :(
