Asus K50ID-SX114X:
* Display: 15.6" HD TFT (1366x768, Color-Shine)
* CPU: Intel® Core™2 Duo T6570 (2.1GHz)
* Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT320M , 1GB dedicated graphics memory
* Storage: 320GB (5400rpm)
* Memory: 4096MB (2048x2) DDRIII 1066 RAM
* OS: 64 bit Windows 7 Professional

Also has anyone got this laptop? any good reviews you might wanna add? thanks

Hmmm.. i think it'll be ok but nothing special. Wouldnt be able to play the latest games on high imo. You'd get away with medium settings... and assuming you're not running 1080p it should be ok.

Check out the Samsung R580 as a better alternative !

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a GT320M a low end graphics card. Surely for a gaming laptop you would want a x60+ or ATi x8xx series.

1080p games ?

e.g high resolution screen and supporting graphics card?

Or am i getting confused ?

1080p = 1920 x 1080 monitor res, I think that's all he meant. As in, if the external monitor is that res, games will struggle.

And Lethal, the 320 isn't anywhere near high end, no, but at 1366 x 768 with medium settings, it will handle L4D, Company of Heroes, HL2 etc just fine.

Ahh ok, though so. I guess you can get notebooks with 1080p resolution just assume they would be big and expensive.

I've got the 330M in my Samsung R580, only had it since Friday and its doubtful if it will ever be used for games. install NFSUG2 and going to install NFS Carbon at some stage soon. I've got the PS3 and Core i7 Rig for my gaming !

That CPU is dated and like others mentioned that GPU is low end. I doubt you can game on that machine.

ASUS have laptops with i3/i5/i7 around with ATI mobility cards 5660 and 5730 which seem well priced.

In their gaming series they seem to use GTS360 and soon 5870.

I actually think you'd be okay gaming on this, depends on the games though. the 320 isn't much slower than the 335 in the m11x and at 1366 x 768 you can game just fine.

the 5650 is DX11 and in the same pricetag as the 320/330/335. I also would pair it with a i3 rather then core2duo.

5650 gives audio over hdmi which is nice to watch movies on your friends TV :)

Will you be able to turn any DX11 features on without affecting performance on a 5650? Actually, probably... I use a 5730 and it handles AvP and Dirt2 DX11 modes fine.

There's an Acer floating about for about £600 which has an i3/i5 and a 5650.

But as for a baseline card, the GT230m is what I have and it's good for MW2 and Left4Dead 2 at max @ 1366x768.

I guess so if you can play that in DX11 mode, according to this link the 5730 is a faster 5650 and not from the 5700 family. http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-5730.23825.0.html

I really wish ATI would stop this fuzzing name policy. The excitement of mobility 5870 turned into disappointment when I read it's speed is somewhere between the 5750 and 5770 desktop. Well kinda as I would love to have a laptop with that GPU :P
