Possible Graphics Issue Kinda Urgent

I have got a major issue with my ATI Radeon HD 4850.

I purchased the Titan Accelerator PC (link) and Installed Windows XP Home SP3, I then upgraded it to Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1

I now have feint lines running at a slight angle accross my screen, after countless re-installs of my OS (which fixes the issue temporaily) the lines come back when Windows updates the display adapter, I used the driver CD that came with the PC and this says that the drivers I have installed are for an older version of windows (pressumably XP) so I hopped to ati's website and downloaded the latest drivers from there, installed fine, didn't fix the lines but also made me get the BSOD.

I am using the DVI-out via a converter to use a VGA cable/screen.

Is this an issue with the GFX Card or the drivers?

Much help appreciated =0)

ATI 8.11 + Vista 64 bit = Noooooo

I've had this problem myself, killed my entire Windows install believe it or not. Couldn't even boot into safe mode, lucky it was just a test install.

Have you tried using an older driver? Also have you tried disabling Vista's Aero?

i assume that the windows-update drivers aren't the lastest ATI drivers, so i don't think thats it.

I'm using a LCD so moire is out of the question, used two different LCDs (Dell and Viewsonic) on different resolutions, still no happiness.

Have tried the catalyst 8.10 and 8.11 and still no hope, I think the GFX card may be faulty, if anyone else has any more ideas before I phone OcUK on monday It would be appreciated

not sure what happened, I messed around with drivers etc. reinstalled windows XP 32-bit and it fixed the issue, just upgraded to Vista Ultimate 64-bit seems to be working just installing MB drivers now

Hm, weird, in a good way :p. Did you install the gfx drivers already?

So the problem only occurs when you install the latest drivers and the drivers from windows update?

Oh and when you remove the old drivers, make sure you use a program like Driver Cleaner Pro, if you don't already.

well I got a CD (ASUS P5Q PRO/ P5Q Series) installed the drivers from the CD, currently system restoring to sort the issue *fingers crossed*

I've had so many problems with 64bit Vista myself, now I'm just stuck with 32bit without Aero :p

Maybe, try not to install every single driver from the disc? Maybe check to see if there are V64 versions elsewhere?

however the image is still like that during BIOS loading, it just changes shape/pattern every time the screen refreshes a new page, once in Windows it stays the same

would it not be a driver issue? surely the BIOS starts graphics drivers?

I can mess around with the drivers or reinstall the OS and it will work, its something to do with a driver from the MB CD

No. If it does that at boot time before Windows even attempts to load then drivers have nothing to do with it. Faulty video card or an outside cause *maybe* a power or motherboard issue but I'd go with a faulty card.
