Possible Graphics Problems... Assistance needed!

Hi,

My brothers PC has recently started to crash about 5seconds to 5minutes into games. Sims 2, BF2142, GTR2, Just Cause the ATI tray tools spinning spaceship and even Armadillo Run.

The crash involves the monitor going black, sometimes the sound freezes, and it sounds as if the monitor is changing resolution several times. It continues constantly until restarted.

The PC is stable on desktop for a long period of time, not noticed any crashes. Only when something involving graphics does a crash occur.

Temperatures aren't high either and fan speeds are at max.


The spec is:

AMD 3200XP Barton
Asus A78NX-E Deluxe mobo
2x512 PC3200 Generic
ATI Radeon X800XT PE


He has recently gone to 7.3 drivers, then to 7.1 to see if that solved it, but still same problem. He hasn't tried any older drivers.

Hi ,Check your processor temps , also check different ram . Theres many possible things it could be, Try changing the power supply?

He's got a temp alarm for his processor set to go off around 60C, it hangs around 48C currently.

Any other mem tests that dont require a bootable floppy, no floppy drives here!

Fixed problem by sorting drivers.

7.3 caused crashes ingame straight away, as did 7.1...

Reverted back to 6.5 drivers and used driver cleaner before installing 6.5 and all is back to normal.
