Possible Half Life 3 confirmation.

I really couldn't care less.

Why people waste their time year after year speculating the potential release of a single game that will last a whopping 6 hours.

Half Life - the most overrated game in history.

wo wo wo you take that back. half life is one of the best games ever. not necessarily its sequels but the first was trend setting and awesome

IF HL3 ever happens, it won't live up to it's legend. There is little point finishing a story which started a decade ago, when there are a generation of gamers who are completely unaffected by HL2 sphere of influence. It's just another corridor shooter with limited interaction and on the rails NPCs

e: that is, for HL2 to 3. It's 15 years since HL1

sounds like another case of Duke Nukem Forever.

Damn straight will take forever to develop......................................

I can't see it being in the same style at this stage, I think it will be fundamentally different i.e. skyrim style, or VR or something. Half-life 2 is supposed to be amazing on oculus rift already.

This. The ship has sailed:(

Nope not buying it at all. Why we have had to wait an age for it I have no idea but to say the ship has sailed and it wont live upto legend is madness as quite frankly we know absolutely nothing about it. Does it actually exist? Has it existed in the past and it just wasn't upto scratch, is that why we have never had it in our sweaty mitts?

To say there is little point in finishing the story is a bit silly in my eyes. People want to see how the story ends. What happens to Gordon, whats the deal with the mystery man with the brief case (that's all I could think of when playing half life 1).

The generation of gamers that are completely unaffected by half life....well....where do you start with that one? The Half life series had a massive hand in shaping scripted story driven FPS. Since then the genre has become incredibly stale (Looking at you COD/BF) with no attempt to try and take the genre any further. My hope is that if/when HL3 appears it will at least attempt to take some risks and freshen up a stinking pile of FPS that are no better than tech demos. To look back at HL1 and 2 and say 'Oh damn son, you are nothing more than a shooter on rails' is kinda funny. You cant seriously be using that as a beating stick? Its been 15 years since HL1? So err...how much have FPS changing since then because the last time I played the single player of a Call of duty title is was...wait for it...because you are going to love this.....just another scripted shooter on rails.

I personally find the whole HL3 hype will it wont it, has it hasn't it thing as funny as hell. The memes, gifs and other comical stuff just adds to the mystic and hype. IF it comes out (during my life time :P) and its awesome then super, that will do me, I can be content that a series of games I played back when I was a youth has been brought to conclusion (assuming it does get closure....HL4 maybe in the year 2310?). If its garbage then well never mind, we can all have a good laugh at how it got hyped into oblivion and failed to deliver. The interwebs (or portions of it) would go into melt down if it turns out to be crap! Sneeky suspicion valve wont let it turn out to be terrible though.

Oh just on stories....The first Game of thrones book was published in 1996. I guess that's another story that's not worth finishing :D

I don't think they will release it for a while. They get tons of people checking their news section looking HL3, then buying games they didn't mean to. Every time anything happens, someone will mention half-life 3, someone will go to steam and end up buying something. Having the game in constant hype probably makes them a lot of money.

Remember how everyone wrote off Toy Story 3 as never happening etc?

11 years later - BAM! Awesome! :D

Valve are waiting I'd say. What for I don't know but they know exactly what they are doing!

It wasn't that it bad, in fact in a way it was very good. But I just felt it was very similar to the others, just the same again really, nothing new. And I'm sure that's not what we want from HL3.

Its a shame, Pixar are amazing and creative, but are doing to many sequels in my opinion.
