Hi Guys,

So I currently have a Nikon D3100 which is great, but as I love quality and heard some great things about the 600D i've always been curious.

Today I noticed on HUKD a deal for the body @ £363 and i'm thinking of possibly selling up the Nikon for it, but not sure if this is the sensible thing to do.

Any advice?

Personal preference I'd say. I don't think the 600D is any better than the D3100.

However I did the same thing awhile back and sold my D3100 and bought a 600D instead. Since, I've been happy with my decision and prefer Canon's menu layout, the feel of the camera and the look.

Don't forget you will need a lens, even the basic 18-55m kit lens is around £55 second hand so the cost soon increases. I think it's a decent deal but not the steal of the century.

I wouldn't call it a massive upgrade. If I were you I'd consider a D5100 body if you can find one on the cheap.

I like my 550D, but the images that it produces are a bit flat compared to the similarly priced Nikons. The 600D has the same sensor and only really offers the articulated screen and a few minor features on top, so it suffers from the same need for a bit more processing.

I wouldn't say that having neutral images is a problem to be honest...

For photos there's little between them, although you're right, the 5100d does often take the edge. However, for video the 600D is by far the better of the two. So if you're interested in video and photo the 600D is the one to go for.
