Hi all.

Following my post on the General Hardware forum, I thought I might explore this route too.

Basicly, what i am after is a reasonably priced laptop for gaming (No i don't know what reasonably priced is :P) for taking to LAN events.

What I am after is something that would run CoD4, Supreme Commander Forged Alliance, and CSS decently.

Thanks for your time :)

OCUK are soon to be offering a range of customizable laptops.

They include 17" models with 9800m GTX gfx.

Gaming laptops are heavy, hot and have useless battery life. They are also very expensive.

As long as it will be sat on a desk and plugged in to the mains then that wont be a problem.

As for price. Your looking at £1,300 +

Actually the 15" ultima mobile is £960 and has a 9800gts. Plenty for most games.

I have just ordered one.

I was using an xps1530 with 8600gt. It was ok but not really upto the job of Forged Alliance ( I was getting 20-25fps @ 1440x900 medium settings)

I have a desktop rig for when I am at home but nothing beats going to mates/LAN with your laptop and watching everyone else struggle in with these huge PC ;)

Yeah, 15" is an option.

Although i assumed that most people would rather not game on such a small screen?

Of course this is down to personal preference.

I went from a 17" gaming laptop to a 15" (Dell 9400 > xps 1530) I have to be honest the lost 1.6" wasnt really that noticeable. What was noticeable was how much easier it was to carry the xps around (it fits so many more bags and was so much lighter it was much easier to handle). That being said the ultima mobile is much heavier than an xps but will give feedback when they arrive!

Any feedback would be great. I've got my eye on one also.

Yep will do, I will put up a mini review when it arrives. I normally wait for other people to buy before buying new tech but I sold my XPS and am desperate to get a new gaming laptop. The 8600gt just didnt cut it so I am really looking forward to the 9800gts
