Possible Life Changing Day Tomorrow

Best of luck with it all mate. I am in a similar position with my other half. We are trying to buy a place here, starting price for a two bedrom flat is £150k

All our friends live in this village and we want to stay here desperately but we can get so much more for our money if we move into the center of Liverpool. 150k gets us a brand spanking new appartment with smeg kitchen, balcony etc etc. And with 2008 approaching it would be a sound investment but our social lives would suffer as we would have to get a cab up here for drinks every weekend.

It really is stressful and i wish the both of you the best of luck with it!

The crazy thing is that in the past 3 days I've had as much stress and panic as I've had in the past 10 years.

I'm usually a fairly laid back guy, but so much of the procedure is new to me, I just get brain freeze.

Gah - good luck to ANYONE who has to get this stuff done. It's designed to mess with your head.
All the best man not spoken to you in ages since the hub days but good to see your heading in a positive direction. I wish you all the luck I can matey! :)

Congratulations. I'm just in the finishing processes of decorating a flat for the Mrs and me to move into. :).

Nothing beats having your own place. I hope you enjoy it.

Ah so it's kind of like a 1-bedroom flat, but over two floors instead of just one :) Maybe I'm the only one but I hadn't heard of 4-plex before :o

hey man very best of luck to you - hope all goes well!

I've been with my GF for 41/2 years, just coming up for my last year at uni so when we both graduate around this time next year we might be going for the big living together thing!!

Let us know how it goes!

The whole offers over system annoys me, if people want more than that they should put it into an auction with a reserve, otherwise ask the damn price you want!!

Fortunately I got my house as fixed price, one of the common sense people who wanted just to sell it without the hassle. I lost out on two £70K houses even when I was offering upwards of £80K for them.

Then I got this one at £70K fixed price, valued 2 months later at £78K :D

Quick Update

Today is a public Holiday in Inverness so I couldn't get a hold of our solicitor, but I spoke to the sellers Solicitor/Estate Agent, and he has confirmed that if we increased our offer to £87K, the seller would end the sale and sell to us.

Spoke to your mortgage advisor, and we confirmed that we could match it. She confirmed this (In fact we can go as high as £100K  ) so I phoned back the sellers agent, and confirmed we could match the £87K.

Its been agreed verbally, and tomorrow I'll see the solictor and get the missives done. We have an appointment on Thursday the 17th to get the mortgate application finalised, and then we are set.

So we bloody well got it!!!!

Lets hope so, at the moment its only a verbal agreement so things can and might change so dont get too excited just yet. But otherwise congrats mate, hope you do get it:)

Well done on getting the new home. :D

Glad that when we go through it we don't have to suffer the gazumping shenanigans due to the way Scots law works (up here verbal agreement is same as a written contract basically). :)

Ahhh i didnt realise that, seems to be gazumping is a done hting here in the UK, especially in London. Happened to my middle brother when he was trying to sell his 2 bedroom flat...kept getting gazumped but finally he found a decent buyer who said and did buy the flat off of him.
