possible mobo problem

Bought an Asus maximus formula vi recently, and it had been running fine until i put another hd in there.

I had a vertex 2 ssd as os drive and another mechanical 750gb hitachi, but when i recently added another tb hd (samsung HD103SJ) i've had nothing but problems.
I.e bios not picking up my ssd or my samsung hd 9 times out of 10,took me nearly 40 minutes to boot earlier today :( and there's no set pattern to get it working, can be straight away...then next time half hour.
Obviously it's connected to the adding of the new drive, but does anyone have any idea why? or what the problem could be?

I've already tried new sata leads etc, made sure all connections are fine, and i think i'm on the latest bios for the mobo,as i just did it a couple of days ago to see if it would help

yeh it worked perfectly in my last build, and also as an external before i put it in this pc,odd thing though, i get warnings from windows 8 that a hard drive is failing sometimes and then others it doesn't say anything,so i assume it's temperamental.
I've checked the disk with S.M.A.R.T and chkdisk with no problems reported :s

I tried to install it,but then i had to reboot at the end of install, and i couldnt boot back into windows after that....well i got in once but the desktop seemed broken,i couldn't click on anything or that, lastly tried safe mode to see if i could uninstall it,but the desktop froze on that as well.

So after all that i just thought duck it and reinstalled w8,samsung drive still takin the p,but at least my os drive seems to be getting picked up every time ;)

Got a samsung pro arriving on monday,so another reinstall will be in order :/

Cheers for the advice wazza, and tbh i think i already think i had those rapid storage drivers installed,so maybe that's what made it worse :S
