Hi Guys,

Just wanted to run something by you all.....

I have built a htpc but have an issue, when installing the OS its gets so far through the installation and then i get the dreaded BSOD, i have tried installing vista 32 and 64 but same issue on both.....the strange thing is, if i remove 1 of the sticks of ram it installs fine, no BSOD?

Here's what i have tried....

Various combinations of ram slots
Installation with each of the ram chips on its own and no issues
i have also run memtest with both sticks in, running the default test and it completes a full pass with no errors.....

The board i am using is the - Abit AN-M2HD -Socket AM2, i have also tried varying the amount of vieo memory, setting the bios to optimised defaults and fail safe defauls but the same issue when i have 2 sticks in

Also worth mentioning, i have tried 2 types of ram, Corsair and OCZ, both are dual channel matched pairs and both are 1gb each stick.

The question is, is this the motherboard or am i missing something?

TIA

G

'Never mind'.

I suggested the Vista 4gb hotfix, but you said you have the same issue when running only 2gb.
