hi all,

wasn't sure if this forum or software would be better for it.

am contemplating move from android to apple.
been android user since the beginning.

i get that apps need to be bought again etc.

my biggest concern is all google home devices I got around home...chromecasts, google homes and minis

can i use those from within iOs easily ?
especially cast from apps to the tv via chromecast ?
I did search this using google but prefer ask users rather then read paid reviews etc

my biggest concern is the nest wifi wire alarm detectors... would those notify me on my apple device if something triggers it ..

thanks

thanks guys.

i do not use google assistant that much....occasionally for the weather check.
just use those as speakers with spotify.

so google home app and we should be ready to go.

and if youtube app casts normal, that's all i need...
TV has all the other apps for series/movies

I made the move to iPhone last year with the 12 and had used only Androids up to that point.
I still run my home from Google home speakers (two minis and a max) as well as a chromecast on the kitchen TV. All work fine and I have had no issues changing over at all.
As mentioned I highly doubt Siri would work but I never used voice assistants so that hasn't impacted me in the slightest.
I have the Google Home app installed on my iPhone and it works in exactly the same way it did on any of my preceding Androids.
I can't comment on the Nest Thermostat as I have a Hive setup but it has continued to work with the Google Home integration as before.

happy with the move ?

im not playing with changing changing icons anymore, or launchers...just use phone for apps, emails, games, youtube etc..

Very happy.
Similar to you I just CBA fiddling with launchers and themes etc anymore - I know I don't have to but when you have an Android the temptation is always there.
With a little one in the house now and adulting being my main "hobby" these days I do appreciate the unbox and go nature of the iPhone.

I will caveat by saying I already had an iPad I use for work and a MacBook Pro so I wasn't starting from scratch with Apple.
thanks

im a full PC person and have no need for macs etc. maybe ipad in future.

I used to be the same

i did have mac pro ages ago, full i7 17" unibody ... we didn't glue ;)
got mac air to the other half...she gave it back and has some high spec HP ...
only apple item we have is her iPad mini gen2 lol

been reading good things about apple tv if i would be to replace chromecast...

will see...will see how pixel 6 pro looks like and take from there

definitely tests of battery life in 13pro look very very good . main reason it got me thinking of switch
