Sky News is reporting that Glenn Roeder is gonna be announced as the new Newcastle boss at some point today!

He's done well as caretaker but I never thought he should be the full time boss as he hasnt got the clout to bring the big players to St James. Looks like Freddies to tight to get O'Neill or any other of the big boys.

ALEDGEDLY - Allardyce came in for an interview and sitting on the panel along with the chairman was a director , the PR guy and Alan Shearer.
Big Sam turned the job down because he didnt want to manage a player with that much power.

It wouldnt suprise me if Big Al's having a big say in Roeders appointment especially as he's currently working alongside him.

If thats Allardyces attitude then he'll never get a look in for the England job with Beckham in the team!

Not that I disagree with his opinion I dont think players should be involved outside the on field activities thats the problem with the current England team they've all got to much to say for themselves in matters which dont concern them. I want the best man for the job not the best man who the players think should have the job (i.e the one who they enjoy the comfort zone with the most)

Would totally agree with that we've had some good strikers and midfielders over the years but no matter who we buy at the back they always turn out to be **** Woodgate was the best defender we've had but it was a cracking piece of business selling him whilst crocked for 13million shame they then wasted it buying Boumsong

Why Given dont leave i'll never know he's been too good for us for years now and is good enough to be first choice at almost every premier league club yet persists in being our last line of defence behind some right donkeys!

Is there anyone else at the club aside from Shearer whos doing/done the badges? Cos I expect they could fiddle the system and put some other bloke as manager whilst Roader does the course and still runs the team.

Nah Freddie usually sacks them after about 4 games of the season or in February so the new guy cant buy any players!

Good luck to Glen and from the sounds of it he's gonna need it! With the donkeys we've got in defence and not a pot to **** in money wise for new players I cant see him managing much better than this season.
