You need a heatsink as the Skylake "K" CPUs do not include one.

Does it have to be a mATX sized board? as there are bundle deals available on CPU+board or CPU+board+RAM+cooler.

Heatsink I have, in fact a selection I suspect in my cupboard and yes it does need to be M-ATX as I prefer the size.

I have been giving it some thought and as my current set up is great except I am tired of the Parvum case I should maybe consider holding out a little longer and going X99 MATX?

Have you overcloked the 2500K? they all did atleast 4.5Ghz even in the crummiest of motherboards.

I must have a crappy chip as I could not overclock it at all. I suspect it was a non K that somehow got in the wrong box. But I am really not into overclocking anyway.

Maybe spend your money on something else unless you need the multi cores+hyperthreading provided by an X99 setup.

I not sure what part of "Others more versed in this process have tried and I can assure you the chip does not play" people do not understand. This particular chip will not overclock. This particular guy is an overclocking nut he will try to overclock anything.

But my thread was not about overclocking. As I said from advice elsewhere I have decided to wait as my current set up is fine and the above is not a particularly large upgrade given the price of the three items.
