Possible November GPU upgrade.

First of all i'm looking for a single card solution, and have my eyes on a GTX 580 for when BF3 comes out, I have a Corsair TX650 PSU and heard that it would work ok. Just would like to know would that be a good upgrade? considering November is a long way off just hope they should come down in price by then.

I think by November a new set of 28nm Cards should come out, so if your waiting 'till then anyway, you may as well get one of the new series

480 would be cheaper and can be overclocked to 580 performance ?

Edit: just realised you plan to buy in November, I guess look in the members market round that time, if your lucky you may be able to get a 6990 or something for very cheap as people would sell their cards in preparation for the new 28 nm cards ?
