Possible official name for the NGP

VITA

It's the week before E3. There are rumours buzzing around like flies on a turd. Here's the biggest fly, then, from the weekend: that the NGP has a name. And that name is "Vita".

That's more than accepted now, in fact it became pretty much accepted as soon as it launched.

Always happens that things initially get negative comments before they become available if they have a slightly unusual name, as soon as it's in the consumer market and the word is plastered everywhere it becomes part of life and nobody cares.

I don't see it myself. I still think they'll either call it the NGP or just go with PSP2. I don't buy the whole " Sony won't sell something with '2' in the name while Nintendo are selling a competing product with a '3' in the name".

Well it's setting itself up for disaster. People are going to call it Sony Vista and assume it crashes all the time.

Its also been pointed out that the name would then be PSV which since this is the 5th Playstation device would make some sense. I quite like NGP tbh.

Regardless I'll be getting one as soon as I can provided the games are there.

Vista is at least an actual word with perceivably positive connotations, vita sounds like nothing to me. Maybe a visa card or something but it doesn't sound good. NGP is a lot better.
