Hi folks
I've just thrown together some old components for a small video editing machine. They are based around the following:
Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 motherboard
Intel Core i7 2700k cpu (currently oc'd to around 4.5 ghz)
Originally the system came with 16gb ram (Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel) but I'd like to put in 32gb (have ordered and received 32gb - 4x8 sticks - of Corsair Vengeance ddr3, same other specs as current memory memory - old memory was 4x4 sticks) for added editing power etc. From my limited knowledge I understand that the base cpu clock is around 3.4 to 3.5ghz and of course putting in more memory will disable the oc it currently has. What I'd like to know is if I can maybe oc the cpu to say a constant (for example) 3.8ghz or around that mark.
I have NO experience of overclocking at all, so if this is possible I would need guidance of how to do this (I guess it'd be done from within bios?!). If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. I'm due to take some time off work soon for a rather nasty op on my left foot (have been told that it's atleast 2 months recovery time ) and I plan on doing things like some gameplay videos - having this setup ready for that time off would be great!
