About a week ago the lights in my house (and many of my friends houses) briefly went off, and some parts of my street had a full on power cut, and ever since every so often my internet will play up and begin to hang, this continues until I reset my wireless adapter, is it possible that the small power cut damaged my network card? None of my other PC components seem to be affected so what do you guys think?

Short answer :-
Absolutely.

Long Answer :-
One mobo I had some years ago, was the Gigabyte DS3.

I am a huge fan of this board and since I have a load of different ones over the years, Im unsure as to the exact model, but its was an early S775 job.

Anyway, we had a lightning strike just over the road, where it took out a chimney, however, my PC shut down and when I started her back up, she reset twice... Giving me a minor heart failure, but she soon came back up, and I could not get back onto the net... After some piddling about, I realised that my LAN was no longer there?

What was marvellous, is that my top PCI~ slot and the LAN were killed, but the Mobo survived.

I plonked a Lan card in and hey presto.

My router was still killed off mind you, but I got a trillion of these ( slight lie ) and the board ran a treat for years after... in fact, I gave the board to a mate in wrexham and I know he had it for a while too, so good boards.

Anything is possible, but given you're talking about a wireless adapter it's less likely.

Damage at the router end is quite possible. Do you have other wireless devices, and are they behaving?

My iphone pretty much always hangs when i'm loading things, maybe it's time for a new router, any suggestions? I have fiber optic virgin media broadband at 60mb
