Possible problem with USB port

Hi,
I have been having trouble with my broadband for a couple of months now, with it cutting out every 15 minutes and then coming back on again after about 30 seconds. I got an NTL engineer to come out and have a look at it and he said it was a weak signal and that he had fixed the problem. However, I am still getting this problem and think that it may be something to do with my USB ports as I have also had problems in the past with my USB memory key not working either. Is there any way I can test the USB port on my motherboard, next time my internet cuts out, to see if this is the problem?
