Had a Billion 7800N for exactly 2 years to the day it blew up !!!
Great router/modem..... till now. Powered it down to go on holiday, as normal it's permanently on. On return the network side, bother wired and wireless is not responding, or for a moment and disappears.

I've logged a ticket on Billion, asking for a replacement/repair as they offer 2 year warranty. Though I'm not sure how how much support they will offer. (was bought from the rainforest).

Looking around at some high spec Netgear items, I'm not convinced I can find any better or more suitable than the 7800N. I'd be annoyed to buy it again.

Wired network is now Gigabit, I have QNAP NAS, PC, and two music streamers (24/192 files) for audio plus AV amp that can stream video. Plus two wireless laptops and iPad etc.

Keen to have something with good through put so I can stream and shift data around with it slowing or feeling the strain.

Any suggestions if I don't get any joy out of Billion.

Bought this router myself, unfortunately it was returned to amazon today due to numerous disconnections. However I am on adsl1 (so I'm told) if that make any difference.

Are you on fibre or ADSL?

If you're on adsl I'd get another 7800N as I've tried a few routers and I always get nearly 2000kbps higher sync rate with the Billion.

I also got loads of disconnections (every 4 or 5 mins) and I'm on ADSL2. After posting on their forum I was advised to upgrade the firmware, it's been rock solid ever since.

Thanks for the feedback....... Not sure if the disconnects are about the Billion or the ASUS !
I use to get them on the Billion, when some one called us.... and it wouldn't reconnect without reboot. A firmware up date and extra line filters improved it.... Then Plusnet moved me from ADSL1 to ADSL2 which has been more stable and auto reconnects OK now.

Still waiting for Billion support to get back to me on my warranty request.

Disconnects when people call = broken or missing filters.

I have both the 7800n and the Asus, the Asus needs the latest firmware on it, but it's a great piece of kit.
