I know you can in parallels, I've tried MacDrive but it tells me that its unable to use the mac system partition.

All I want to use it for is my iTunes collection and stuff when I'm in windows :)

Ha ha!

I missed that entirely! If you make your windows partition larger and store your iTunes there (NTFS for read only*, FAT for full control from within OS X)... otherwise you are stuffed.

MacFUSE seems to be almost the last step to mounting NTFS drives [with RW privileges]

Instructions there in drparallax's post.

Really? Do you need to do anything special?

Nope, haven't set anything special up, it just indexes the drive. AFAIK SpotLight will try and index just about everything it can read automatically.. which is annoying when you have betas on one partition and it keeps pulling back applications from the wrong version :)
