Possible to clone my OS drive?

I have Windows 7 on an old WD Raptor and was wondering if I could buy a SSD and clone everything in the manner below and what program is recommended?

1.) Connect SSD to system
2.) Clone Raptor to SSD
3.) Switch off system
4.) Unplug Raptor
5.) Set SSD to bootable drive
6.) Run Windows as normal on the new SSD
7.) Sell Raptor

Not quite but this would be the easiest way:
Use Windows 7 backup and restore to create a system image on an external hard drive. Unplug your current hard drive, plug in the SSD and boot to your Windows 7 DVD. You can restore your image to your new SSD that way.
