Morning All,

I am awaiting a delivery of a projector which will hopefully arriving tomorrow.

The plan is to make our spare bedroom into a bit of a cinema room / guest bedroom. I already have a ceiling mount on route for the projector.

Now, medium term plans are we are likely to have baby number 2 which would mean this room being turned into child 1 bedroom or nursery so I don't want to put too much effort into the setup as we will probabally convert the garage...then again I don't want something too naff.

My thoughts are to ceiling mount the projector and maybe run a HDMI lead up through a hole in the ceiling, along the loft and down into bedroom 4 where it will go into the PC. The power cable will run down into the room hidden by a bit of trunking.

The question is, can it be possible to set something up so I can control what we watch on the projector using a tablet (I have a very cheap android thing) or IPhone so when we turn on the monitor it will work seamlessly?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm good thought on the Chromecast, that way wouldn't need to run anything into the ceiling, plug chromecast straight into the amp and then run the HDMI around the room hidden.

Is there any apps to control via a tablet and make things a little sleeker?

There is a plex app for android and iOS, it connects to your media server (your PC in this case) and uses the tablet/phone to cast the content to your destination. You can then pause, rewind, etc from here.

Plex for iOS at least is pretty disabled until you buy add ons. I was allowed to watch a video for one minute on it before it wanted payment.

As others have said, Chromecast + Plex. The Plex app seems fine for Android (at least for me anyway).

I assume you were trying to watch plex content, rather than your own libraries... iOS app I can watch any of my content, my Hisense TV however I need a plex pass to watch more than a minute of my own content.

Teamviewer to remote to the pc to mirror the screen
or
Official Kodi Remote to control Kodi running on the pc but not mirrored i.e just browse the media interface on your phone/tablet and select what will play on the pc+connected proj
