this is the G Card my friend has

XFX ATI Radeon HD 5570 1GB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphic HD-557X-ZNF2

Slightly over I know but you dont want to be on that AMD socket....it's pretty much dead. If his old kit has died there is always the chance the RAM is borked as well. Old RAM WILL be more expensive than current tech, might as well invest in 4GB of DDR3 RAM now.

That AMD CPU in the comparison link is the phenom II (better than the athlon idleman suggested). There are cheaper intel pentium G CPUs but I wouldn't go lower than that G620 myself. I have the AMD 555BE in my HTPC which is capable of gaming and has enough grunt for HD video playback and obviously general tasks as you can see the 620 is a better CPU and its cheaper than the athlon nevermind a phenom dual core.

There are cheaper H61 mobos but this one has USB3 and SATA6. It will take the new ivybridge CPUs and even has a PCI-Express 3 slot. Better to invest in current tech with CPUs you can upgrade to than a "dead socket" in my opinion buddy

well if i was him i'd maybe look abit above dual core just to make it abit more future-proof . about to get a new system myself .. graphics first then maybe move from my dual core in the next 6 months ... but ned a better tv/ monitor as well ... thsi wil cost me abit lol

I had that ASRock mobo and the 7750 last year before I went quad. Was a good board, but Hyper Threading is quite low on it and it cannot overclock to save its life.
