Possible to get "name" in windows explorer to show the entire thing by default?

Basically, if you have a view on a folder to be "details" the name column doesn't display all the files name, which is *highly* annoying when it comes to music tracks and basically anything with a long file name. Is there a way of basically make the column auto expand to fit the entire file name - in other words like a reg option or something, so I don't keep being bugged

Well you can set the folder to remember its setting so at least the 2nd time you go back to it the column will be the correct size. That's unless you're using vista of course, in which case it will remember it for a while and then randomly decide that's it's information not worth retaining.

Hehe, unfortunately too true. Would be useful if anyone knows how to have th columns resize automatically though.

I tell you, Windows Explorer's obsession with trying to apply retarded "helpful" views, and its penchant for forgetting your own view that you set up just-so is my biggest annoyance with the OS.

oh yeah, would help to mention I am using windows vista (64 bit, not that it matters)
