Possible to install Android on "duff" Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8 via SD card?

Like many other people my Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8 suffered some problem during charging or updates that causes it not to boot. It seems to have lost some part of the OS. Mine appeared to be a duff battery after 2 years. I managed to buy one fro China and install it but now it won't boot past the start up screen.

I have got into a recovery mode but "reset to factory" doesn't help.

Is it possible to forget what was on there and install a "vanilla" android OS from the SD card please?

Then look for a rom you like? maybe

Typically for android devices

Install bootloadevie twrp
Boot into twrp
Install from zip file

Or

Go into device flash mode
Load up the software on your PC
Connect device to pc
You should see connected in app
Load up ROM image file and flash

Well - I have nothing to lose - "dead" at the moment. Battery failed. I bought a new one from China (long way to the shops - but he ho). Installed battery and won't boot.

Seems a common fault with Lenovo Tabs!
