Possible to outgrow gaming?

I have moments when i curse to my self etc when i am annoyed/frustrated while playing a game, but never come to the point where i need to throw a object and break something lol.

Also i dunno how you come to the conclusion that being annoyed with a game = outgrowing it.

I find the games that annoy me the most are the ones i end up enjoying. :o

I certainly agree with the tastes changing side of life, Halo 2 was THE game for me years ago, I could quite easily spend the whole day playing online.

Now however, even three or four games on the bounce are a fairly laborious way to kill time.

Unfortunately with the anger lark I've always been quick to anger even at the stupidest things (mother), not to the tune of throwing stuff but enough to agitate.

I have come to the conclusion that I don't think I can handle Fifa/PES anymore, the gain simply isn't worth the hassle.

I would also say that it's been a long time since a game truly 'immersed' me and that I don't find myself foaming at the mouth to finish the next level or find out more of the story anymore.

Reckon that's a sign of a mental shift or the poor quality of games?

**Also, if you were wondering the specific cause of the Fifa rage it's due to the fact that generally the faster team wins. With a far less emphasis on skill (playing with a mostly Liverpool team there's no pace thus all the other guy has to do is pass it to Pato or Aguero and he's scored)**

Its not gameing that I have fallen out with, its the new generation of gamers.
I come from a time when camping on counter strike earns you a ban.
Now I jump on a CoD and 90% are kids hiding behind claymores in dark rooms

Adapt or perish :D

Thats the thing, my kill/death is better now than it has ever been. Killing campers is easy. It is just no fun

Beg to differ. Killing campers will never get old for me. Even more so with all the new graphical tricks games are taking on, like the knifing animations in BF3. Nothing like stalking a sniper who's done you a couple of times and cutting them. Can almost hear their whimpers on the other end of the net :D

I'll call my therapist first thing Monday

Everyone goes through this.

Best thing is to limit the amount of games you get and actually play them before moving on.

Agreed.

This is happening to me at the moment, I start playing something, then get bored very quickly.

Just concentrate on one decent game and play it when you feel like it.

Or, stop gaming for a month or so, and go back to it.

Promise you'll like it on return. :)

Outgrow gaming? Do you outgrow watching films? Reading books? Weird.

i think comparing games to movies is slightly off ....... a movie ( unless you have seen it before ) is always different ... gaming can be repetative

my main 3 interests are gaming / movies/ music....i go through phases of doing more of one thing a lot more than others.... gamign wise ive not been into it a lot seriously in about 4 years ... it did cost me my marriage in part , but i still like to play.

Used to play FIFA at uni a lot. Tense matches with pride and lad points at stake. Those could get very heated seeing as I was playing with some serious wind up merchants and bad losers. Conceding last minute from an horrendous mistake or horrible goal happened rarely, but when it did, a cooling off period was needed :D

Only really a casual gamer these days. Never really let games anger me. It's only a game after all. You should play to enjoy :)
