Possible to remove a person from image

Hi,

Is it at all possible to remove a person from an image, yet keeping the background intact?

If so, what's the best method and software to do such a thing, will Fireworks be up to doing it, or are we talking along the lines of PhotoShop for such a thing.

Unfortunately I don't have Photoshop at work, else the cloning stamp method would be ideal.

Anyway I've managed to do something in Paint Shop Pro, it ain't perfect but it'll do so long as I reduce the size so it's not as obvious
