Hi all,

I have recently moved house and during transit my monitors LCD screen has been damaged (see image)

I have contacted Samsung directly and they put me through to a company that deals with monitor repairs. Their response was that it would cost nearly 80% of the original price so obviously I wasn't interested.

So with that in mind I decided to register on overclockers as I know there are some brilliant minds on this forum!

I feel with a little guidance on monitor repair (I am capable of building rigs, stripping down laptops etc) and, more importantly, where if anywhere I can buy a replacement 23" lcd screen that I would be able to replace.

The model number of the monitor: syncmaster s23b350h

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

It would be cheaper to buy a new monitor as repairing those types of screens are costly and not environmentally friendly. Any company you find who will repair it will have large costs associated for this reason.

That's utterly screwed, it needs a replacement LCD - and the LCD is (as was quoted) about 80% of the cost of the whole monitor.

The technical term for "screwed" being Beyond Economical Repair.

Thanks guys, to be honest I was expecting the answers given. Even with my very limited knowledge of LCD repair I did honestly think it was "screwed" as Jon Smith stated :)

Guess it will be an insurance job then, I was just hoping that I could maybe repair for less than the insurance excess.

And to be honest it's not the end of the world as it 'was' part of my 4 monitor set up ;) Was just the only one with a HDMI input so was the "main monitor"

Thanks for the clarification though everyone!
