Possible to rescue ASUS Maximus Impact VII (mITX) or replace?

It looks as though a faulty PSU has killed the SATA ports on my Asus motherboard.

I'm not sure how I can use it without SATA, so am looking to repair or replace.

The problem is that I have got a 4790K processor in there and I don't think that any current motherboards support that.

Could anyone advise if there is a way around it?

Windows on ssd from USB 3.0 adaptor is not bad....

There's a U.2 connector on the board you could use for a drive. There might be an adapter you could use for an m.2 drive.

That's the Impact 8, not the Impact 7. And there's no U.2 > M.2 converter, and I spent about a year trying to find one

PCIe SATA card? All depends if you are using iGPU.

D'oh! Completely forgot about the combo arrangement because my Impact 8 doesn't have it :mad:

So yes @kingston12 you can use an M.2 NVMe drive on your board.

Thanks all. It looks as though the power outage didn't kill my SATA ports after all, it just killed all of my SATA devices! I am now up and running with new SSDs and an optical drive.
