Possible to run an IRC bot from shared hosting?

Is this possible? I know my host won't let me run a deamon from when I tried to install hlstatsx, but I'm not sure what's involved with installing a irc bot, but if you have to run a deamon through ssh - then I can't do it...

Any advice appreciated

You can't, no - least not on any sensible providers. Run away from any shared host which lets you!
