Hello all.
Would it be possible to upgrade an Intel Celeron Mobile 530 processor to a CD2 jobby? The laptop is an Acer if that helps and socket is socket M, 478 pins.
Thanks

You probably can, the BIOS is probably one used in various models of notebooks so will have the microcode etc.. for C2D cpus, just remember to get the earlier socket M C2D and not socket P ones.

Merom-core processors are part of Santa-Rosa according to the diagrams I've seen. You must be thinking of Napa, which is the platform name (CPU + chipset + mini-PCIE wireless card).

Napa platform has early C2D Meroms with the Socket M and 667FSB, Santa Rosa is this year i think and is Socket P with 800FSB. His cpu is a Socket M Merom with i think a 533FSB

Be careful with this, Intel released the 530 in both socket m and p, both have 533 fsb and both have 1mb cache, so it could be either.

I dont think that the chipset helps for identification purposes.

I think (i am not confirming) you will be fine from a bios support point.

Does the BIOS not give you the cpu part code?? That would clear it up fairly quickly
