Possible to upgrade graphics on HP Compaq?

Hi all,

I'm wanting to upgrade the graphics on a HP Compaq 8000 as it's struggling to play games such as F1 2012, Train Simulator, Flight Simulator etc.

All others specs support the game so I'm pretty sure it's the graphics card and so I've been told.

I've also been informed that it's practically impossible to upgrade the graphics card as it's a 'smaller' tower but I don't necessarily believe this is true.

Is there anyway to upgrade graphics card on a HP Compaq 8000?

Current tower specs

Intel Core 2 Duo - 3.0GHz
250gb HDD, DVD/RW, 3.0gb RAM
Windows 7 64bit

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Em

There seems to be multiple versions of the same PC, in various sizes. Which one looks like yours?

There are GPUs that can fit the smaller size, but it will depend on what the power supply can handle, as well as how much space there is inside.

It's the middle one

The problem is going to be choice as your going to be power and size restricted, any chance of a picture of your current setup and some measurements between the card and the case side ?

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 6450 Silence 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card £31.99
Total : £37.97 (includes shipping : £4.98).

It's a low end GPU but it should be a good jump compared to the current integrated GPU. It also doesn't use that much power so it shouldn't strain the HP 240w power supply too much. And, it comes with the SFF brackets to allow it to fit into your PC.

From this picture it "should" fit, but might be best for you to check inside:
