Hey all,
I recently bought some new fans, PSU and a SSD for my itx build, in the process of the upgrade my system has died. All it can manage now is powering up and down repeatedly for a few seconds a time.
I have exhausted all my testing and I am pretty sure the cause is the motherboard. Now the issue here is I have a Gigabyte GA-H67N-USB3-B3 board with a i5 2500k CPU (I know not the best match but at the time the K model was on offer). So the problem is I am going to have a look at buying a new motherboard which will support my 1155 socket CPU, or so I thought. This turned out to be near impossible to do, end of life *sadface*.
So I was thinking, I have a new PSU and new fans so the air flow with be improved to my Antec Kuhler H620 so I could now OC the CPU to squeeze some improved performance, so no massive loss. I could get my hands on a Z77 ivybridge mobo which should support my 2500k. The trouble is I can't find that chipset for sale anymore in itx form factor either....Damn!
Soooo, is my only option now to upgrade to a z97 itx mobo and buy a new i5 haswell chip?
Would really appreciate any advice.
Cheers, Vale
