Hey, right im looking at either trying to upgrade parts of my pc or if it comes to it just get myself a new rig..

now my reason for wanting to upgrade or get a new rig is i want to play some of the newer games coming on which at the moment is a bit hard for me as my pc is nearly 5 years old now and struggles to play them smoothly..

Current specs:

Cooler master 500w PSU
Sandy Bridge i5-2400 (3.1Ghz)
Gigabyte Z77 motherboard
8GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce GTX 560

Any of the new games that are being released or soon to be..

And budget, dont really have one atm but nothing too extreme

'nothing to extreme' isn't too helpful. Everyone's idea of extreme is different. I'd be looking at a new Motherboard+CPU combo and a new GPU if you can stretch that far. SSD too if you don't have one already!

Don't see anything wrong with the CPU. If OP wants to overclock than an ivybridge i7 second hand would be a cheap drop in improvement. Not really worth spending more on the CPU if you don't have the GPU grunt to match it. SSD and GPU upgrade would make the biggest difference.

Budget?

I dont really have a budget at the moment, but if i was able to upgrade id be looking for maybe like 500 maybe 600 ?

Would i be better getting an upgrade bundle then? but would that mean id need a new PSU also ??

You've got a z77 board so you can OC, grab a 2500k, 2600k or 2700k, whichever is most budget friendly. Grab a decent cooler if you don't have one and overclock it.

For the GPU upgrade it also depends on budget.

Depends on how hefty of a card.

£99 for 512gb SSD
£230 for a 390
£100~? for a second hand 3770k or 2600/700k for 70~ drop in upgrade

Rest is beer money. You can go brand new on a Mb/CPU/RAM combo but you wont really see any gains in fps. Or spend it on a PSU if its old, cooler master is alright but PSUs do degrade over time, so you might be walking a fine line if you decide to go for something powerful and hungry
