Which memory is best? I'll probably just stick with XP pro for now anyway, so 2gb of the corsair? But I could get more mem for less it would seem by going with OCZ... Will be used mainly for gaming and photoshoppage.

I do have a copy of vista ultimate but I've not got on too well with it so far. Mind you, that was when it was first on MSDN, and about to be released retail.

The powersupply I have is an Enermax Noisetaker EG701AX-VE(W)SFMA 600watt.

I shouldn't need a new one of those should I? I mean, it should be ok powering/compatible with the above?

Cheers,

I'd go with the OCZ, you'll see somewhere approaching 3.5gb in XP and PC6400 is more than enough unless you are seriously overclocking and even then it would still allow you to get up to about 3.6ghz with that CPU if everything else is capable.

I'm not sure I'd bother with the OC2 edition of the graphics card but since 8800GTs are in pretty limited supply I guess it is whatever is available goes.

Your PSU will be fine. :)

Thanks for the reply :D

Does an extra 50-75mhz on the whatever is faster on that particular card make much difference? I'll just get a 600mhz flavoured one if not... but i guess i could always overclock a 'slower' one anyway.

Would like to buy soonish, don't know if the rest of the cards are out elsewhere.

The extra speed makes little difference, particularly when it is rather unusual not to be able to overclock a 'stock' card to those sort of speeds anyway. Currently you could pick up a Gigabyte or OcUK 512mb card that are in stock for £10 and £20 cheaper respectively and both should reach those speeds or near as damnit if you wanted. :)

Bah need a new PSU, mine doesn't have an 8 pin 12v connector. ****.

You could probably use an adapter but if you do want a new PSU then the Corsair HX 520w is a good choice and comes in at ~£70. To save a bit of cash to put towards it then you could consider changing down to the IP35 rather than the IP35 Pro. That coupled with the money saved on the graphics card and Ram should mean you are only spending about £10-20 more I think. :)
