Possible Upgrade Time

Morning All ,

Wondering if its worth me upgrading yet , not seeing any Drops in FPS or performance but lets put it to the Vote

Currently Running

AMD Ryzen 9 3900x
32gb Corsair Vengance LPX 3600mhz
MSI X570 AM4 board
Zotac 4070 Super Twin Fan

is it worth me upgrading to anything else ?

Wait a while and see what happens with the new mobos and x3d cpus.

They might be expensive and only beat the 7800x3d by a few % but might mean you can pick up a 7800xd3 bargain.

Dont see the point in diving in if your current rig is giving you adequate service

TBH, I'd just drop a 5700/5800X3D in it if it's primarily a gaming rig.

E: It's what I intend to do along with a GPU. Don't see enough of a performance gap to warrant the extra outlay.

Yeah its Mainly a Gaming Rig , Do some work on it every now and again and my courses but i will defo look in to maybe a 5700 / 5800x3d least i wont have to upgrade the MOBO then

would a 5950x be a better upgrade ?

For gaming a 5800x3d would probably be better depending on which game you play

5700x3d is way better value for minimal FPS drop.

You would only buy a 5950X if you do a lot of heavily multithreaded work, the 5700X3D/5800X3D is a superior gaming CPU.

That said, if you're happy with the performance then there's no point upgrading.

If it works fine then it's not worth upgrading.
TBH even if I thought my machine a bit slow I'd consider older games before an upgrade. Cheap, lower reqs and often still very good.
