possible upgrade

Looking to upgrade my current set up which is an opty 170 @ 2.4gig each core , with a8n sli premium , with 2 gig corsair ram
Am currently looking at getting a Q6600 set up.
Will the following all run together fine , or are there issues / or better options

1 x Abit motherboard IP35 Dark Raider Intel P35 LGA775
1 x Intel CPU Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 95W Energy Efficient 2.4GHz SLACR G0
2 x Corsair 2048MB TwinX XMS2 6400 DDR2 Memory Kit (2 x 1024MB)

will 4 gig run ok as well?

It seems like it would work nicely together. Depending on how much you're spending on the RAM you could conceivably get a better deal with some cheaper PC2-6400 since it'll be underclocked up to 3.6 Ghz on the CPU. Be sure to get the OEM version of the processor and a meaty cooler for overclocking.

What cooler would you recommend ,, and also what speed is possible with the stock cooler or is the stock cooler total pants ^^

The stock cooler is pretty pants. It might be good for 2.6-2.8. I recommend the Tuniq Tower or, if you have deep pockets, the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme and a Scythe S-Flex 1600 RPM fan. The Thermalright is the best cooler you can get whilst the Tuniq is darn good for its price.
