been riding my cbf 125 for about a month now.

And have been wondering if i should take my full bike test and move up to a 250 or 400?

Im 19 so cant do DAS.

Just think i may like a bit more power.

Not sure what bike i want either but was hoping you guys could reccomend some for between £1500 to £2500

Thanks

Wouldn't bother with a 250 to be honest, a 400 or 600 would be a good idea.

If you can manage it I'd go for a full year on your CBF 125 so you can 1 years NCB as that would lower insurance costs around £100-£200. If not, then at least another 5 months just for the experience alone.

Here are some recommendations that you could probably find for £2500 or less (with low insurance)

Suzuki SV 650 [street]
Suzuki SV 650 S [sport/tourer]
Kawasaki ER6F [sport]
Kawasaki ER6N [street]
Suzuki GSX650F [sport]

I think that given you've allready binned your bike in the first month, it might be a good idea to get some decent road experience under your belt before you start hankering for more power, because i think your trying to run before you can walk.

i agree take your time, any 125 will be quick enough imo, then before you know it youll be old enough to go for direct access and step up to a 600cc

being older helps with lower insurance too so its worth the wait

Hardly my fault for binning the bike.

I would like to have seen someone do anything differently when a bus tries to push you onto incoming traffic!!

IMO it's worth doing your tests on your 125 given the new rules being introduced in the new year.

£15 a pop for mod 1 and £75 isn't too bad. Maybe do a few hours worth of lessons to point out any bad habits and I reckon you'll be good to go.

RE: Mod 1, a lot of people seem to just find an empty car park and use a measuring tape and some cones for some practise.

As said above, do your test it will probably work out to around £100 without training.

Even if you dont upgrade yet its done for the crappy new laws coming in 2013

PS i told you you'd get bored with a 125 4 stroke quick ;)

I do agree with VoG on this one. I know it's not entirely your fault that you binned the bike, but if you had more experience/training under your belt, you may very well not have done. Possibly reading the road better, or not pulling your brakes so hardly, may factors could be considered.

As said, it's worth getting your full licence before the changes come into affect. It may be worth getting a lesson or two from a school, just to try and get rid of any possible bad habits you may have picked up, and to give you some advice on where you could improve, then do practice on your own, and sort out your own test.

Then just carry on riding on your 125, look at getting 1 years NCD, this will take at least an OK amount of the insurance on a bigger, more powerful bike.

Id agree with sticking with the 125 & taking your test on it, I did the tests on my 125, Just read up on the tests online & watch videos, Failed my first mod 1 due to nerves but passed 2nd time, Passed mod 2 with only doing 1 days training & then i swapped my bike for a 250 & its ok but i wish id have gone for a 650 cos its feeling abit slow now
