I have just had an email from a website warning me my account was hacked and bogus information was posted,

I was told to scan for a password logger or something along them lines.

So far i have scanned with Kaspersky and Spybot search and destroy but found nothing???

What else should i use to scan?

I'm worried as i use the computer to online bank etc :eek::eek:

Who was the email from? Maybe it is a fake?

Boot to safemode with networking. Download Malware bytes, update definitions and scan. Do the same with your AV product.

Email is genuine i spoke to an Admin on the website. He told me its possible keylogger.

I am doing as you have said now..

Also which OS? Fully patched? Firewall on? Browser patched?

Secunia PSI is a great tool to check for out of date software.

Windows 7, fully patched, kaspersky internet security with latest firefox.

did what u said before and found nothing?

No mate it wasnt, i dont use the same password for anything important.

Ive scanned everything in safe mode with 3 different apps and nothing???

What's the IP of the person who posted the "bogus" information?

Don't forget to patch Flash, Adobe Reader & Java.

If you use Firefox, encrypt your passwords. Consider using a password manager such as KeePass or LastPass.

I now use Keyscrambler, I have spoken to admin on the site and they have told me the account was breached via my password so defo got it somehow.

I'm patching flash etc now. Just set master password in FireFox.

Thanks for all this help Fluff ive learned a lot today from yourself.

EDIT: when you say patch you simply mean update to latest version?
