Possible X-Fi problem?

Howdy all, here's my problem.

I have an X-Fi Extreme music, and it's absolutely fine in all my games apart from Warhammer 40k Dawn of war (i have all 3 games).
I get an annoying hissy crackle in my speakers when theres a lot going on (gunfire, explosions etc)

Im just wondering if theres something ive overlooked in the x-fi settings or something?

Have you toggled the games mode in the x-fi control panel? I had loads of problems with my x-fi until I did that before playing games.

yeah it's in games mode when i play games.
