Hi There,

I currently have:- 2 x2gb Gskill PC6400 (400mhz) 5-5-5-15 @ 1.8V

and want to add this:- Crucial Ballistix 2x 2gb (pc6400 800mhz) 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v

this would give me 8gb....

but would it slow down my system?

It is a good mix or shouldnt I bother?

Please advise..

Cheers..

Also, will the crucial above fit my mobo its a asus rampage maximus formula...

I think you'd struggle to get it stable as the timings and voltages are quite different between them. Overclocking would be well out of the question as the 2 modules will behave differently

Don't know if Crucial is compatable with your mobo, but if you do mix the ram, you will probably have to run it all at the Gskill settings with a touch more volts on the northbridge.

Personaly, i would stick with the 4gig you have, maybe try to clock it a bit.

Personally if looking to go to 8gb, id sell one set of the ram you have and purchase another 4gb to match the one your left with:)
